เมื่อวันที่ 10 มิถุนายนที่ผ่านมา แคนนอนได้เปิดตัวแฟลช Canon 430EX II ซึ่งจะมาแทนที่ Canon 430EX โดยมีการปรับปรุงให้มี Guide Number? เท่ากับ 43 (m/ISO 100 at 105mm) พร้อมกับ wide panel ซึ่งทำให้สามารถใช้แฟลชกับเลนส์ที่ wide ได้ถึง 14mm. นอกจากนี้ยังลดระยะเวลาในการยิงแฟลชซ้ำ Recycling Time การควบคุมผ่านเมนูทีสมบูรณ์ รองรับการทำงานร่วมกับกล้อง EOS ทุกรุ่น จึงเหมาะกับสาวกแคนนอนทุกระดับ

ลูกเล่นใหม่
ลดเวลาที่ใช้ในการยิงแฟลชซ้ำ (Recycle times) ลงประมาณ 20% ด้วยเสียงที่เงียบไม่เป็นการรบกวน ปรับปรุง ขั้วต่อ (Mounting Foot) กับตัวกล้องใหม่ ให้มั่นคงแข็งแรงยิ่งขึ้น เพิ่มความเสถียรในการส่งข้อมูลระหว่างตัวกล้อง และตัวแฟลช ป้องกันการสปาร์ค ,เพิ่มปุ่ม Quick Release และระบบล๊อคใหม่ ทำให้การใส่แฟลช และการถอดออกทำได้ง่ายยิ่งขึ้น ในโหมด Manual แฟลช 430EX II ได้เพิ่มความละเอียดในการปรับเป็น 1/3 stop ทำให้การควบคุมทำได้ดียิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้การใช้ร่วมกับกล้อง EOS รุ่นใหม่ๆ สามารถปรับค่าต่างๆของแฟลช ผ่านเมนูของตัวกล้องได้เลย ทำให้สะดวกในการปรับค่าต่างๆ ลดความยุ่งยาก

ระบบแฟลช
Canon Speedlite 430EX II รองรับระบบแฟลชทั้งกล้องฟิล์ม และกล้องดิจิตอล นอกจากนี้ยังรองรับ ระบบการวัดระยะ E-TTL II ซึ่งออกมาในกล้อง EOS รุ่นใหม่ๆ และยังสามารถตั้งค่าเป็น Slave Flash ในการถ่ายภาพสตูดิโอที่มีแฟลชหลัก ที่ควบคุมแบบไร้สายอีกด้วย

เมื่อใช้กับกล้อง EOS รุ่นที่รองรับ Speedlite 430EX II มีการตรวจสอบว่า Sensor นี้เป็น full frame , APS-C หรือ APS-H โดยอัตโนมัติ. ระยะซูมก็มีการปรับความแรงของแฟลชโดยอัตโนมัติ
